Cheap PC Guide

Shop in your pajamas on Black Friday

It’s Black Friday, the biggest shopping day of the year, but you don’t have to leave the house at 5 in the morning and wrestle with frenzied crowds to get a great deal.  Sleep in, have some coffee and read the newspaper, then come online to easily buy a low-priced desktop computer, the Acer APS280, at Geeks.com.

This PC is refurbished, but don’t let that hold you back.  It’s a speed demon and packed with features that are hard to beat for the price of just $299.99.  To start, you get a Celeron D 3.06GHz, 512MB of RAM, and 80GB hard drive.  The DVD+RW drive is dual-layer.  While there’s no floppy drive, there’s lot of room for internal expansion.  On the motherboard there are 3 PCI slots, 1 8x AGP slot, and 2 DIMM sockets (to expand your RAM to the max of 2GB).  Externally, you can hook up peripherals via parallel, serial, VGA, PS/2, and four USB ports.  Audio and video are integrated, as is 10/100 Ethernet.

If you’re still feeling a bit “iffy”, consider that this budget-priced desktop PC comes with the Windows XP Professional operating system.  A new, full-version of XP Pro has a suggested list price of $299.99, so it’s like you’re paying for the OS, and getting the computer for free.  Now that’s a bargain which would excite any Black Friday shopper!
