Cheap PC Guide

How does a 200GB SATA hard drive sound?

When you buy a “gently used” car, you save thousands of dollars by just sacrificing a bit of that new car smell.  When you buy a refurbished computer, you get a similar savings — an almost new computer which has been hand-checked by the manufacturer to find and repair any defects or problems.

TigerDirect.com is offering a refurbished desktop computer with an enormous hard drive for just $399.99 (or just 4 easy payments of $100).  When I say “enormous”, I’m referring to that 200GB SATA drive hard drive, which contains enough space for you to store movies, music, games, and any other data you might have lying around.  The computer is an eMachines T5010, which runs on a Pentium 4 2.93GHz processor.  512MB of DDR RAM are on-board.  The processor, RAM, and hard drive ensure you’ll have enough space and power to create great things with the DVD+/-RW drive, and Intel’s GMA900 graphics mean that gaming won’t be a problem.  There’s also an integrated 8-in-1 media card reader, so data transfer from your digital camera or other portable device will be a breeze.

This bargain-priced desktop computer comes with 7 USB slots and a Firewire port.  The integrated sound card offers two audio out jacks and two microphone jacks, and the system ships with a pair of nice desktop speakers.  You’ll also have both 56K modem and integrated LAN support for flexibility.

Expansion is limited to just one available PCI Express slot, but that may be enough to keep you going for a long time.  Considering almost everything you could imagine is already included (except a monitor!), this refurbished machine is a great value.
